King Rama II Memorial Park

King Rama 2 Memorial Park, also popularly called “Rama 2 Park,” is a project in honor of King Rama 2 established by The King Rama 2 Foundation in royal patronage so as to return his kindness in fostering such beautiful art and culture as Thailand’s heritage. UNESCO declared him a World Heritage Person. The abbess of Wat Ampawanjetiyarama, Samutmethee, donated 11 rais of the area to park construction. Moreover, the area is the place where King Rama 2 was born.
A place not to miss is King Rama 2 Museum which is divided into 4 Thai houses: the central hall in which the statue of King Rama 2 is installed and antiques in Rattanakosin Era, such as Thai porcelains with designs in five colors, ceramics and Khon marks, are exhibited. Moreover, the men’s room exhibits the living of Thai men whose valor is remarkable, Buddha’s images for reverence, and beds which is believed to be King Rama 2’s bed. The women’s room displays the living of ancient Thai women, for example, dressers, mirrors, balcony in Thai style and decorated with pots of different dwarves and garden trees. The kitchen and the toilet show that the Thai kitchen has kitchenware and bowls inside and the toilet of the middle-class.
Furthermore, an outdoor theatre and botanic garden of which the plants appear in Thai literature are located in the park. Shops selling local products and plants are also there. The park is considered one of the most pleasant places to visit.
The park is open every day from Monday to Friday, starting from 08.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from Saturday to Sunday, starting from 08.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. The fee is 20 baht for adults and 5 baht for kids. For more information, please contact 0 3475 0666, 0 3475 0376 or fax 0 3475 0376.
Drive along Rama 2 Road (Thonburi-Pakto)(Autoroute 35) until the kilometer marker 63, then drive into Muang Samutsongkram and into Autoroute 325 (Samutsongkram-Banpae). Arriving at the kilometer marker 36 and 37, you have to turn left at the intersection. For bus, you can get on Maekong-Bangnokkwaek-Rachaburee at the Municipal Amphoe Muang market.
How to get there :
Take a bus at the Municipal Market of Amphoe Mueang Samut Songkhram, routing from Mae Klong to Bang Nok Khwaek and Ratchaburi, and get off in front of the Park.
